The Masquerade is an evening of social dance with some dance entertainment held the last Saturday of February each year. Dance to the music of Glenn Miller in the 1940's to Lady Gaga of today. Held in the spectacular 1906 Royal Alexandra Hall, they are based on the Venetian Carnival experience. Participants may rent elaborate adjustable capes over their clothing and hand-held masks from the Museum, or bring their own - or just dress in comfortable dance clothing. The capes and masks are removed after the reception in the Museum Entrance Hall, followed by a colourful procession to the Royal Alexandra where the dance begins. There are also several specially-choreographed dance performances for your entertainment at intervals under the new LED lighting system put up specially for the event. A high-end light buffet, juices and bar are also provided throughout the evening. Details can be seen on the Museum website.
