Sporting events in Victoria are part of our community’s rich heritage. Victoria is home of BC’s first (and only) Stanley Cup championship team, and the city has played a significant role in the adoption and development of lacrosse across Canada and even the United States.
Take into account that Victoria is also home to the Canadian Olympic rowing team, and Tour de France hopeful Ryder Hesjedal, it’s no surprise that Victoria also boasts its own sporting hall of fame.
The Greater Victoria Sporting Hall of Fame has a newly refurbished website that looks great, and that features plenty of Victoria sport stories and a list of inductees stretching back to 1991. The website also has a page devoted to images of Victoria sports artifacts.
The Hall of Fame’s displays may be seen on the concourse level of the Save-On-Foods Memorial Center through Gate Three.
