The Rockland area is rich in history and brimming with beautiful and stately homes. Three of Victoria’s must sees are in this area, all within 10 minutes walking distance of each other. Start off at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria which features an ongoing exhibition of renowned artist Emily Carr, then wander to the carefully tended gardens of Government House, residence to the Lieutenant Governor for British Columbia. Your last stop should be the magnificent Craigdarroch Castle, formerly home to the remarkable Dunsmuir family.
Coal baron Robert Dunsmuir was the wealthiest and most influential man of his time in British Columbia. He died in 1889 leaving his entire estate to his wife Joan who lived in the Castle until her death in 1908.View Site »
