The Cariboo Wagon Road stretches from Yale to Barkerville along much of today’s Highway 97.  This was the first viable transportation route to BC’s interior and helped open the central and northern parts of BC to exploration and settlement.  Today, you will find communities that sprang up around Road Houses built to accommodate the thousands of miners seeking their fortune.  Poke around these towns and villages and experience the hospitality that is BC.
