The last post established by the North West Company west of the Rocky Mountains and marking Sir Alexander Mackenzie’s farthest point in the descent of Fraser River in 1793. Built in 1821.  After 1826, when the trade of New Caledonia found outlet to the Pacific, instead of the Atlantic, it was the point of transfer from the land to the water brigade and so it remained until the gold discoveries transforms the conditions.
