The McLean Mill National Historic Site is a restored 1926 Steam Sawmill and Camp and is the only commercial steam-operated sawmill in Canada. You can experience the excitement of steam, as the sawmill cuts wood for demonstration and sale. The resident Tin Pants Theatre Company make history come alive as they entertain you with their thrice daily stage show at the Nikkei Theatre and guide you around the site with their interpretive tours. You’ll see the old original buildings and lots of restored logging equipment around the site including a steam donkey, logging trucks, graders, and lumber carriers.Children of all ages will get a sense of the life that people led in this camp on the edge of the world. They’ll hear the stories, interact with characters from the past, and even get to meet a rather tall individual called Douglas Fir. After your adventure you can have a bite to eat at the Steam Pot Cafe and visit the Mill Store (gift shop) before getting back on board the train, into your car, or onto your bicycle to head back home.
