If you’re looking for things to do near Quesnel this weekend, look no further than Barkerville, the largest heritage attraction in North America.
On September 9, 10 and 11, Barkerville Historic Town is host to the Cowboy and Drover Jubilee, a celebration of a century of cattle-drive culture:
From the earliest 19th-century goldfield cattle-drives to the square dance fervor of the 1940s and ‘50s, Barkerville has been proud to play venue to more than 100 years of cowboy culture. This September 9th to 11th, the historic town will honour that century of cowboy music, spoken word, and dance at the Barkerville Cowboy and Drover Jubilee.
It’s a full-day, full-weekend event, starting off with breakfasts served up by most of Barkerville’s many restaurants, followed by song contests, cowboy poetry, and other family-friendly entertainment. Don’t miss cowboy lunches, and be sure to eat a hearty dinner before catching the “Northern Star” showcase competition and many musical performances in the evening.
The Cowboy and Drover Jubilee ends at noon on Sunday, following a cowboy Anglican Church Service.
