Ladysmith’s iconic downtown streetscape remains a wonderful reminder of the town’s colourful and sometimes turbulent past. The diverse group of heritage structures of this time period is a vibrant legacy and source of community pride. Many of the buildings are listed on the local, provincial and national Heritage Registers. “Ladysmith – A Town is Born” is a brochure that provides a brief history of each of the heritage buildings along with a route map. Visitors can pick up a copy at the Visitor Information Centre at 411B First Avenue.
